Akin Ricketts: We must stop the pull “him down syndrome”
It is with a sense of dismay that I read a communique by a group that described themselves as the Coalition of APC Support Groups in Cross River.
I am dismayed because inspite of our experiences in the past, we still don’t seem to have risen above a primitive “pull him down” syndrome that is largely responsible for where we are today as a state.
The attacks on the Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi and the newly appointed chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority, Chief Akin Ricketts leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
The Minister has done well for Cross River, we are our own problem.
For the avoidance of doubt, Ricketts is a member of the APC and has been a member since the foundation of the party.
He has contributed immensely, intellectually, financially to the development of the party.
Those people who are instigating crisis to insult the Federal Minister, Mr Amaechi and Chief Ricketts should desists from it.
Its laughable.
Akin is a son of Cross River State and has represented us greatly.... Note that Chief Akin is not alone.
He has played his part in politics cleanly and straightforwardly, and that is why he is where he is today.
God has told us, HE shall bless those HE choose to bless!
Chief has been blessed only by God.
We need to at this point to pray for him and support him.
Every time we find a son of ours find himself in a political office, some element would start playing this pull me Down syndrome!! It is not good for us, this is witchcraft. It is even more disheartening that in this case it is being spearheaded by a respected leader of APC. This is uncultured.
Akin represents Cross River. He is a Cross Riverian. He is the Chairman of the NPA. Let’s give it to him. We should rather support him than try to pull him down.
This group should desist from this attitude. They should not start what they cannot finish.. President Buhari is a man of wisdom and character and does not listen to cheap gossip.
Amaechi is what he is by God’s grace. He has sacrificed for it and deserves his wages.
I don’t want to mention how many Cross Riverians Amaechi has helped. If our brothers he has helped has not touched our lives then the problem ours.
We must not condemn him. He has helped us to secure the NPA as a state. All we need to do now is put our heads together and see how we can apply for opportunities and get employment/ contracts. Let Akin say no, then we can complain.
This pull him down syndrome is not proper, it is not decent, it is barbaric and it is witchcraft. Let us not shoot our selves in the feet out of blind bias and tomorrow’ look for who to blame for our problems.
