  During the emergency meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) at the State House, Abuja, a prominent South-west governor put Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila on the spot, for allowing the motion summoning the president to appear before Lawmakers to pass. According to our correspondent, Buhari was advised to ignore the invitation. In the same vein Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, said the party had decided that Buhari should not appear at the National Assembly tomorrow. Gbajabiamila reportedly interjected and said that it would be the president’s prerogative to determine whether to honour the summon or not.

   Officials of Hisbah in Kano State on Friday conducted a door-to-door search at Hills and Valley, a holiday and relaxation resort located at Dawakin Kudu, Kano metropolis. It was gathered that staff of the resort were made to take Hisbah personnel round all parts of the building. During the search, operatives of the Islamic security outfit searched all rooms and spaces to detect 'sinners’. Despite condemnation from Nigerians, Hisbah group has continued its push for Islamic agenda in the North. The agency established to enforce Sharia law in some states in the region recently banned stylish haircuts, sagging of trousers, playing of music at social events by disk jockeys and seizing tricycle from riders for adorning them with pictures considered to be obscene and against the tenents of Islam.   # Yakubu Gowon, a former military head of state, has described allegations that he looted half of the Central Bank of Nigeria as “rubbish”. A member of the UK Parliament, Tom Tugendhat, made the claims during a debate on the Lekki tollgate shootings of protesters. Speaking at the UK parliament committee debate on a petition on the #EndSARS crisis, Tugendhat had urged the UK to call out corruption and use its powers to stop who profit from Nigeria’s wealth and hide it in foreign countries. “Some people will remember when General Gowon left Nigeria with half of the Central Bank, so it is said, and moved to London,” he said. FG has agreed to use old platform before IPPIS to pay all withheld salaries - ASUU

 The Academic Staff Union of Universities has served an update on its meeting with the representatives of the federal government today November 20. ASUU disclosed that the federal government has agreed to its demand of paying their members’ salary arrears from February to June through the old salary payment platform, Government Integrated Financial and Management Information System. The Union affirmed that UTAS which is the platform it presented as an alternative to the Federal Government's Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, is currently undergoing usability test. ASUU which further revealed that the FG has offered N15billion in addition to the N20billion pledged earlier, said they will now consult with its council and then get back to the government in a short while, to make their final intention known; if the strike will be suspended or not.

An Ado-Ekiti High court on Wednesday sentenced two accused persons Lanre Kayode (34) and Olanrewaju Aremu (35) to death by hanging. In his judgment, Justice Lucas Ogundana said “The law has prescribed mandatory punishment for the offence committed by the accused persons and the court can nevertheless pass a less sentence having regard to the facts and circumstances of this case, accordingly, the two accused persons are hereby sentenced to death by hanging until they breathe the last while on count 1,2,3 and 4 which is conspiracy and burglary, they were sentenced to life imprisonment.” According to the charge sheet, the two accused persons were charged for conspiracy, armed robbery, and burglary contrary to sections 403 (A),402(2)(a) and 411(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C16 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012. The Federal Government is currently studying the University Transparency Account System presented to it by the Academic Staff of Union of Universities. The development had forced the Senior Staff Association of Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities to kick against the payment platform.  The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N62 billion for the construction of Kano – Gwarzo – Dayi road linking Kano and Katsina States. Newsmen report that the Council meeting also approved the introduction of platonic medical records and management for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). The Ministers of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, as well as Health, Osagie Ehanire, made these known when they briefed State House Correspondents on the outcome of the meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday.  President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of 12 major research centres in the that would be funded by the Tertiary Education Trust, TETFUND, through funds generated by Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS. Chairman of Board of Trustees, BOT, of TETFUND, Mallam Kashim Ibrahim Imam, disclosed this during the TETFUND and FIRS interactive session on Tuesday in Port Harcourt. Imam stated that because of President Buhari’s interest in ensuring that research is the hallmark of teaching and learning in tertiary institutions informed the establishment of the research centres. He said the collaboration between TETFUND and FIRS has greatly ensured that education intervention funds for development and research in tertiary institutions are generated through adequate tax collections from companies and individuals.
