As we celebrate yet another Annual Boki New Yam Festival, it is my greatest joy and thanksgiving to God Almighty who has given us His grace, that I, my family, and indeed, the entire people of Boki worldwide, extend our gratitude and felicitations to all our people, at home and in the diaspora, on this occasion of our New Yam Festival. My dear Muslim friends and families, On this occasion of the 2020 Eid-il-Kabir, the season of love, giving and great Joy, I extend to you my warmest regards and good wishes of a joyous celebration. The season, as we all know, is symbolic of the Islamic injunction of sacrificial giving and total submission to The Almighty Allah by whose grace we have survived the health challenges to celebrate yet another Eid-il-Kabir in spite of all the tribulations that have besieged the world around us in recent times. It is,therefore, a period to spare a thought about our worldly pursuits and ambitions in relation to our societal values bearing in mind that we are only human and life is all vanity. As we celebrate today,my brothers and sisters in Islam, let us reflect on those societal values that remind us of our common humanity. I would like to express my appreciation to family members, friends and colleagues, political associates and well-wishers for the support and sympathy shown to my family following the demise of our beloved mother Mrs Getrude Amokeye Jeddy-Agba (Mama Nurse) It has become necessary to issue this statement in order to address repeated requests by several persons and groups who have indicated interest in attending the burial ceremony. We are all aware of the directives of the Federal Government on Social distancing and restrictions on social gatherings occasioned by the COVID 19 pandemic. In line with the established safety protocols, I am constrained to limit the number of invitees and unable to personally host any social activities during the burial ceremonies. Consequently, I appeal that we respect this protocols and join the family in offering prayers for the repose of her Soul.
