CNPP urges politicians, political parties to desist from distracting Governor Ayade

The leadership of Conference of Nigeria Political Parties {CNPP}, Cross River State chapter has called on both politicians and political parties in the state to desist from further embarking on activities that will distract the Governor of the state, His Excellency Sir Ben Ayade from carrying on with his good works.

In a communique dated April 29, 2020 and signed by the state Chairman
of CNPP, Sunday Michael and the Publicity Secretary, Castro Ezama, they said that it was not proper that some politicians and even political parties were bent on distracting the governor from focusing on the good work is doing for the state generally and of recently the great strides he has and is still making in the battle against COVID-19-19 and the provision of 8000 jobs in the areas of agriculture, security, environment and health for the youths of the state.

CNPP, Cross River Chapter expressed dismay on why some politicians should be playing politics at this time when the governor is providing good governance that has been nationally acknowledged, insisting that
“This is not the time for politicking but governance, hence we call on all Politicians, Political Parties and Cross Riverians in general to join hands with the Executive Governor of Cross River State, so he can
deliver the dividends of democracy for a better and viable Cross River State.”

The leadership of CNPP equally called on the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission {CROSIEC} to expeditiously conduct the local Government Elections into the various elective positions within 14 days, while observing all the prescribed COVID-19-19 protocols of wearing face mask during the voting exercise.

“Further, the political parties unanimously call on the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) to conduct Local Government elections in Cross River State within 14 days observing the
prescribed COVID-19-19 protocols of face mask no Movement, no face mask no voting.”

The State Chapter of CNPP leadership which spoke glowingly of the remarkable achievements of Governor Ayade and the expertise manner with which he handled the COVID-19-19 pandemic with the introduction of
“no mask, no movement which aggressively checkmated the global scourge and other measures put in place by the governor has placed him and the state as the number one not only in Nigeria and Africa  in the
battle against the pandemic in line with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control {NCDC} standard, and the creation of 8000 jobs for the youths to cushion the effect of the pandemic.

“The expertise handling of the COVID-19-19 pandemic in Cross River State through His Excellency's professional introduction of the No Mask No Movement that has in no small measure, prevented and so far, locked
out the virus from Cross River State and has also placed Cross River State on the front burner in the committee of States and Nations as the first State to effectively introduce and use face mask and other
COVID-19-19 preventive protocols in the country as well as Africa, in line with the NCDC standard.

The 8,000 jobs recently created by His Excellency Sir Prof. Sen. Ben Ayade Governor of Cross River State in different areas such as agriculture, Security, Health, etc., is another point worthy of mention as this will take over 8,000 families out of a certain poverty borderlines, is well appreciated,” CNPP asserted.

In the communique, the umbrella body for political parties in the state condoled with the governor, PDP and the people of the Northern Senatorial District on the death of Sen Rose Oko {Ph.D}, and that Cross River North and indeed the entire state has lost a great politician who played politics with ethics.

The chairmen of political parties, having rose from a meeting also, called on all politicians and would be aspirants in the Northern Senatorial District of our State not to heat up the polity, bearing in mind that neither The National Assembly nor the Independent National Electoral Commission {INEC} is yet to officially declared the seat of
Late Sen. Dr. Rose Oko vacant.

“We hereby direct Politicians not to commence political activities but rather carefully wait and follow the laid down procedures as enshrine in the various political parties’ guidelines, electoral acts and the 1999 constitution as amended. Failure to comply with this directives,
will attract sanctions from the political parties.

CNPP further stressed that “In line with the efforts of the government of Cross River State, we enjoin Cross Riverians to be strictly adhere to the preventive measures regarding COVID-19-19 of NO Mask No Movement.
