Conference of Nigeria  Political Parties in Calabar, Gives CROSIEC 14 days ultimatum to conduct LG election. 


A unified body of all Political Parties; Conference Of Political Parties, CNPP, Cross River State chapter has called on Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission, CROSIEC to conduct Local Government election within fourteen (14) days.

In a communique jointly signed by its Chairman, Sunday Michael and Publicity Secretary, Castro Ezama, the group urged CROSIEC to conduct the LG election within 14 days observing the prescribed COVID-19 protocols of no face mask  no movement, no face mask no voting.

The statemet read in part, "Political parties unanimously call on the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) to conduct Local Government elections in Cross River State within  14 days observing the prescribed COVID-19 protocols of no face mask no Movement, no face mask no voting."

Furthermore, the group commended and decided to align with the achievements of His Excellency Ben Ayade the executive Governor of Cross River State in the following areas;
"1. The expertite handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Cross River State through His Excellency's professional introduction of the No Mask No Movement that has in no small measure, prevented and so far, locked out the virus from Cross River State and has also placed Cross River State on the front burner in the committee of States and Nations as the first State to effectively introduce and use face mask and other COVID-19 preventive protocols in the country as well as Africa, inline with the NCDC standards
2. The 8,000 jobs recently created by Governor in different areas such as Agriculture, Security, Health, etc, is another point worthy of mention as this will take over 8,000 families out of a certain poverty borderlines, is well appreciated".

On the death of Distinguished Senator Rose Okoji Oko, Senator Representing Cross River North Senatorial District, the group conveyed their heartfelt condolences to His Excellency and his party, the People's Democratic Party, PDP. "we sincerely convey our heartfelt condolences to you Sir, your Party and the good people of the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State, over the demise of our dear Sen. Rose Oko (Ph.d). Indeed, Northern Cross River State have lost a fine politician, who played Politics with ethics".

"The chairmen of political parties, having rose from a meeting, calls on all politicians and would be aspirants in the Northen Senatorial District of our State Not to heat up the polity, as The National Assembly or INEC has not officially declared the seat of Late Sen. (Dr) Rose Oko vacant yet. We hereby direct Politicians not to commence political activities but rather carefully wait and follow the laid down procedures as enshrined in the various political parties guidelines, electoral acts and the 1999 constitution as amended. Failure to comply with this directives, will attract sanctions from the political parties."


"We therefore use this medium as well to call on both politicians and political parties to desist from distracting His Excellency Sir Ben Ayade from his good works, as this is not the time for politicking but governance, hence we call on all Politicians, Political Parties and Cross Riverians in general to join hands with the Executive Governor of Cross River State, so he can deliver the dividends of democracy for a better and viable Cross River State."

In conclusion, the group enjoined Cross Riverians to strictly adhere to the preventive measures regarding Covid-19 of NO Mask No Movement.
