PROFESSOR IVARA ESU RECEIVES THE VICE CHANCELLOR DESIGNATE IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE
The Deputy Governor, professor Ivara Esu has advised the Vice Chancellor designate of the University of Calabar, professor Mrs. Florence Obi to be resolute in taking positive decisions geared towards the development of the Institution.
Professor Esu gave the advice when the Vice Chancellor designate paid him a Courtesy visit in Government House, Calabar.
The Deputy Governor who congratulated Prof. Obi for her appointment as VC expressed the hope that she will perform well in her new assignment in view of her anticidence growing through the ranks to the pinnacle of Vice Chancellor.
He also advised the Vice Chancellor to try as much as possible to carry everybody along, adding that the politics in the University environment is quite different from what is obtained outside.
Professor Esu pledged to always assist her in anyway possible whenever he is called to do so and explained that the University has been part of his life and will always associate with the affairs of the University of Calabar.
The Vice Chancellor designate, Professor Florence Obi described the visit as a visit to her mentor who contributed to what she is today.
Professor Obi recalled that she was always visiting Professor Esu's office as Dean of Faculty where she started learning the rudiment of administration as lecturer one.
She maintained that the Deputy Governor was also instrumental to her being appointed pioneer Deputy Director, Centre for Educational Services in the University of Calabar.
The VC designate thanked Professor Esu for the development of her academic career and appealed to him to continue to be her mentor as she is about to resume duty as the Vice Chancellor of the university of Calabar.
The VC was accompanied on the visit by Professor Franca Bassey of the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry and Dr. Efa German of Faculty of Education.
