YAKURR LGA PARTNER WITH INTERNATIONAL FUND FOR AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT (IFAD) TO UPLIFT THE LIVING STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE.
Today, the 8th day of December 2020, the Chairman of Yakurr LGA, Hon.Ofem Ebri Obeten, said Yakurr LGA remain one of the most peaceful Local Government in the State, since the birth of his administration
The Chairman made this known during a stakeholders meeting with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in his office.
The Chairman said his administration will partner with all relevant agencies of Government,NGO's and Groups with positive ideas that will effect development and prosperity of the people.
He commended the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade for partnering with (IFAD) to bring people's oriented projects in Yakurr LGA. He said (IFAD) will assist in decongesting the streets of Yakurr LGA with the unemployed youths as they will key into (IFAD) Value Chain Projects.
He reiterated his administration Commitment to partner with (IFAD) assuring them of adequate peace and security throughout the period of the project in the Area.
Earlier, the Gender Officer, Mrs. Ewor Myke Edet and Mrs.
Bassey Edem in their separate address, said (IFAD) is a livelihood project saddle with the responsibility of carrying out projects to enhance good living standard of the people, using Agriculture as sustainable means in the life of the people.
They said 'Yakurr LGA is one of the selected Councils to benefit in the (IFAD) project, adding that the project is targeted at Youths, Women and the Physically challenge persons in the Society. She added that, the major value chain in the project is cassava, poultry, rice etc.'
Reiterating on the role of Yakurr LGC to support the project of (IFAD) to provide a peaceful and secured environment and ability to resolve conflicts among the people to enhance effective service delivery.
