What I Will Do To Empower Young People In Nigeria- By Chief Okoi Obono Obla

WHAT I WILL DO TO EMPOWER YOUNG PEOPLE IN NIGERIA

My heart bleeds; I hardly sleep well when it dawns on how young people are suffering, lack opportunities, and can't have a job several years after leaving school. They cannot marry, settle down and live life as their parents lived. How do we empower young people? How do we expand the economy to create opportunities for young people? Creating opportunities for young people is one area I intend to focus on in partnership with other colleagues and the private sector if my dream to become a senator materialized come 2023.

How do we use the law as a social engineering tool to rejig the economy to create jobs, wealth, and opportunities for young people that are the engine and life wire of every community, society, and country. Oh, yes, President Roosevelt used law as an instrument in the 1930s to end the USA's economic predicament and change its fortunes. America became a world superpower from then till now.

Experts say Africa is the next economic superpower globally in five decades because of its youthful population. Nigeria will miss out on this forthcoming revolution if she continues to treat her young people with disdain. Empowerment of young people must not be distributing motorbikes to young people. Empowerment provides young people with the quality education that will make them confident and competitive so that when they come out of school, they can stand on their own. They can create their wealth, industries, and employment. So, the government has to invest massively in the education of young people. Education is the greatest tool to empower young people.
