The meeting, held at the conference hall of Transcorp Hotel, Calabar*, was organized by the Cross River State Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation Development* in collaboration with Green Invest and the World Cocoa Foundation.
In attendance at the well-attended event were the First Lady of Cross River State, ably represented by Hon. Inyang Asibong, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation Development, Hon. Bette Obi, representatives of the World Cocoa Foundation and Green Invest led by Prof. Susan Ohen, among many other dignitaries. According to the organizers, the event aimed to present a compelling opportunity for the development and investment in cocoa and coffee estates in Cross River State. Notably, due to their unique mountainous topography, Boki and *Obanliku* LGAs were selected as ideal for the cultivation of the *Arabica* species of coffee, as part of the *Cross River State Government’s (CRSG) 7-Year Strategic Development Plan (2025–2032)*. The plan is designed to revitalize and modernize the cocoa and coffee sectors while incentivizing value chain activities as a prerequisite for attracting investment. Speaking at the event, *Hon. Johnson Ebekpo*, Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation Development, expressed delight that the efforts of the State Government are already yielding results with the hosting of such a significant event. He emphasized that the agrarian landscapes of *Boki* and *Obanliku*, in particular, make them uniquely suited for cocoa and coffee cultivation, and urged visionary investors to explore these areas for partnership opportunities with the State Government in building an inclusive, export-driven agricultural economy. In her remarks, the Executive Chairman of Boki Local Government Area, *Hon. Eti-Eka Mrs. Beatrice Etta Nyiam*, expressed her excitement over the hosting of the event and appreciated the State Government for selecting *Boki* as one of the pilot LGAs for the scheme. She encouraged both local and international investors to take advantage of the hospitable nature of Boki and invest in its cocoa and coffee sectors, noting that such engagements would catalyze much-needed development in the area. It is hoped that the resolutions and deliberations from the roundtable will positively impact the *Boki Nation*, encouraging an influx of investment along the cocoa and coffee value chains. *Austin Atibile* Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Boki Local Government Council
