BOKI COMMUNITIES MUST ADOPT THE FOLLOWING LOCAL/TRADITIONAL MEASURES TO END THE MENACE OF DRUG ABUSE AMONG OUR YOUTHS ~ Frmr Leader of Boki Legislature•

Hon. Amos Otu

1. SENSITIZE YOUTHS ON THE DANGERS OF DRUG ABUSE: Student unions, churches, parents, community leaders, and peer groups should make it their responsibility to continuously educate Boki youths on the harmful effects of drug abuse, how it has already affected many young people, and the danger it poses to future generations.

2. OSTRACIZE THOSE WHO SELL THESE DRUGS: Communities that are serious about eliminating drug abuse should enact and enforce local laws prohibiting the sale of illicit drugs and harmful substances. Anyone found selling these drugs should be sanctioned and ostracized by the community.

 3. OSTRACIZE THOSE WHO REFUSE TO ABSTAIN FROM DRUG ABUSE: Likewise, youths who continue to abuse drugs despite repeated sensitization and warnings should face appropriate community sanctions, including ostracism where it is consistent with local laws and human rights.
Such measures should be aimed at protecting the wider community, encouraging rehabilitation, and discouraging others from engaging in drug abuse.
