About 43 farmers lost their lives in the hands of boko Haram in Borno

    Boko Haram fighters have beheaded at least 43 farmers in one of the most horrific mass murders in the history of insurgency, Anti-jihadist militia told AFP. The barbaric incident happened this evening in Zabarmari, less than 20 km from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The assailants tied up the agricultural workers and slit their throats in the village of Koshobe, the militia said. "We have recovered 43 dead bodies, all of them slaughtered, along with six others with serious injuries," said militia leader Babakura Kolo, who helped the survivors. "It is no doubt the handiwork of Boko Haram who operate in the area and frequently attack farmers." The victims were labourers from Sokoto state in northwest Nigeria, roughly 1,000 kilometres (600 miles) away, who had travelled to the northeast to find work, said another militiaman Ibrahim Liman who gave the same toll.    Officials of Hisbah in Kano State on Friday conducted a door-to-door search at Hills and Valley, a holiday and relaxation resort located at Dawakin Kudu, Kano metropolis. It was gathered that staff of the resort were made to take Hisbah personnel round all parts of the building. During the search, operatives of the Islamic security outfit searched all rooms and spaces to detect 'sinners’. Despite condemnation from Nigerians, Hisbah group has continued its push for Islamic agenda in the North. The agency established to enforce Sharia law in some states in the region recently banned stylish haircuts, sagging of trousers, playing of music at social events by disk jockeys and seizing tricycle from riders for adorning them with pictures considered to be obscene and against the tenents of Islam.   # Yakubu Gowon, a former military head of state, has described allegations that he looted half of the Central Bank of Nigeria as “rubbish”. A member of the UK Parliament, Tom Tugendhat, made the claims during a debate on the Lekki tollgate shootings of protesters. Speaking at the UK parliament committee debate on a petition on the #EndSARS crisis, Tugendhat had urged the UK to call out corruption and use its powers to stop who profit from Nigeria’s wealth and hide it in foreign countries. “Some people will remember when General Gowon left Nigeria with half of the Central Bank, so it is said, and moved to London,” he said.    Two Mozambique police trainers have been expelled after impregnating 15 policewomen during their training. According to our correspondence, the Mozambique police bosses sent the two officers on leave as investigations continued on how possible it was for the police trainees to get pregnant at the same time. The investigations unearthed the rot in the police academy where trainers are said to have harassed women trainees into sex in order to give favourable terms. Justice Minister Helena Kida said a disciplinary inquiry was held against them and it’s unclear how many students the men have impregnated. “Of the cases of sexual harassment in which two instructors became involved with instructors, making them pregnant, were the object of legal-disciplinary censorship, having, in effect, been expelled from the corporation, as a culmination of the disciplinary proceedings that were instituted against them,” Minister of Justice of Mozambique, Helena Kida, said.
